WELCOME
My name is Benjamin Pischke. I have been teaching math here in Grand Meadow for 13 years now. I am as excited to be here today as I was the day that I started working here, and I look forward to having all of you in class. This year brings new and unique experiences in the Math department in Grand Meadow. We are in the 2nd year of our new 8th grade math curriculum and that will continue to be a work in progress. Also we have created a new math class 2nd semester this year to give students who are coming out of ACT Prep somewhere else to go and I will have more information about that when we get closer to that time.
I grew up in Dodge Center MN and went to Triton High School. While there I played Football, Golf and acted in three Plays a year. I was also very involved in school organizations such as NHS where I served as the President my senior year. From there I attended Minnesota State University in Mankato MN. I earned my degree in Mathematics Teaching from the College of Science and Engineering. While there I was involved in the Math Club (Which I served as President of both my Junior and Senior years), and I was heavily involved in set construction for the Drama Department. I completed my masters degree in the Spring of 2015 from Saint Mary's University. Now I live in Austin, MN. I have a beautiful wife (Tisha) and two wonderful children (Leah 10 and Simon 8).
In my classroom I teach Algebra I, Algebra II, AP Calculus, and ACT Prep math. I enjoy all of my classes and I'm looking forward to another exciting year of Math here at Grand Meadow High School. Those of you who have had me before, which is a lot of you, will see a lot of new things in my classes this year. I am going to try to continue to build a classroom culture where we work together to achieve group goals rather than going it on our own. I will also really be pushing you to hit your targets and will be better defining what that target looks like. However, I am going to try more and more to open up the journey so that your learning becomes more determined by you than me.
I am also one of the 8th grade advisers this year. I will be working with Mrs. Guentzel on 8th grade issues from Homecoming to Snow Week. If you need to contact me please feel free to use the button below. The best method of contact is e-mail. You can call me at the school if you have an emergency or need to have a conversation but I check my e-mail almost 24 hours a day and whenever I can I will get back to you ASAP.
